How to export your Gemini history (Google Takeout, done right)
Exporting Gemini is the trickiest of the three because Google buries it in Takeout with two easy-to-miss traps: the wrong "Gemini" checkbox, and an HTML-by-default format your tools can't read. Here is the exact path (verified July 2026) to get a clean JSON export you can actually re-use.
Gemini has no in-app export — use Google Takeout. Go to takeout.google.com, Deselect all, then pick My Activity → Gemini Apps (not the top-level "Gemini", which only exports Gems). Set the format to JSON, create the export, and download the .zip. Then import it into TulexAI to keep your chats.

How to export your Gemini history

Open Google Takeout and deselect everything
Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with the same Google account you use for Gemini. Click Deselect all so you only export what you want.

Select My Activity → Gemini Apps (avoid the trap)
Scroll to My Activity and check it, then click "All activity data included", choose Deselect all in the pop-up, and check only Gemini Apps → OK. Important: do not check the separate top-level product called "Gemini" — that exports your Gems (custom personas), not your conversations. Your chats live under My Activity → Gemini Apps.

Change the format from HTML to JSON
Still on the My Activity row, click the Multiple formats button. In the dialog find Activity records and change its format from HTML to JSON, then click OK. This is the most-missed step — the default HTML export is not machine-readable, so importers can't use it.

Create the export and download the .zip
Click Next step, keep "Export once", choose .zip as the file type, and click Create export. Google emails a download link (active for 7 days — longer than ChatGPT or Claude). Small accounts finish in minutes; large ones can take a day. Inside the archive, your chats are at Takeout/My Activity/Gemini Apps/MyActivity.json.

Import it into TulexAI

What's inside the Gemini export?
Your download is a .zip. Here is what it contains and which file matters for importing.
- The chats are at Takeout/My Activity/Gemini Apps/MyActivity.json inside the .zip.
- Each record holds one prompt, Gemini's response, and a timestamp — it is an activity log, not a chat-tree export.
- The top-level "Gemini" product in Takeout is a different thing — it exports Gems config, not conversations.
- Takeout defaults to HTML; you must switch Activity records to JSON for a usable file.
